Match report (based on Matthew Carr's report on the Staffs website). Boards 6 and 9 finished first with early draws. Staffs went 1 down when their board 16 resigned. After three hours the score was 7 - 5. Staffs' board 11 had rook and two minor pieces for a queen, but managed to drop the rook and resigned few moves later. Leics also won on board 13. In the two remaining games Staffs players made good, but it was not sufficient to equalise the match. Ben Zitha managed to mate his opponent's king with a and b pawns. The final game in play was drawish, but the Staffs player forced through a pawn to promote and won.
