Updated 6 February The first two matches ares in: a narrow win for Manchester and a clear win for Staffs. Staffs pull further ahead with an away win over Derbyshire. At the end of January, with all their fixtures completed Mick Norris reports Staffordshire are unassailable as new MCCU County Team Champions after a nailbiting wait for the final game at Holmes Chapel. In February, Warks beat Derbys to claim second place.
See below the Webmaster's interpretation of rule 13 of the MCCU Counties Open competitions: The two highest placed teams in the MCCU Open Championship table will be
offered nomination by MCCU for the national (ECF) stages. If the ECF
offers a 3rd nomination, which is expected because 8 teams compete in
the Open Section of the MCCU county competitions, the third placed team
will also be offered nomination. If any team is unable to take up a place
in the national stages the nomination will be offered to the next placed
team in the table. The highest placed open team that is eligible for
the national stages of the ECF Minor Counties Championship will be offered
nomination for that competition. If no team in the MCCU County Championship
is eligible for the national stage of the ECF Minor Counties Championship,
a nomination will be offered to the best placed open team in the MCCU
Minor Counties Championship. |
