Table updated 29 Mar Leicestershire are Champions in Almost Too-close-to-Call Section. In matches in this section three teams finished with 7 match points each. MCCU rules require a tie break to be effected by examining game points in matches between the tied teams. Using this rule, Leicestershire come out top, followed by Staffs and Notts on 15½ (upper table immediately below). The tie-break between Staffs and Leics then depends on their individual match, which was won by Staffs, giving the same result as would be obtained by counting match points between the three teams at the top of the full table. The first match to reports shows a near upset with Shropshire forcing Manchester to a drawn match away on 17 October. Shropshire again perform well above expectations on 7 Nov thrashing Warks to go top of the table. With two matches played each, Notts go to the head of the table. The first result of 2010 shows Leics beating Greater Manchester to go to the top of the table. In February, Warks thrashed GMC, but this was not sufficient to rise in the table. In the last match to be reported, Warks pull away from the bottom of the table after a win against Leics.
