18/3 - ECF National Stage County Draw Updated.


17/7 - MCCU British Championship Qualifying Places awarded to Leicester, Warwickshire and Nottingham congresses.  In addition, MCCU grand prix announced.


1/7 - Cyril Johnson   has been appointed as County Teams Controller for the forthcoming season and Bob Veitch   is the Correspondence Controller.  Details of the the competitions they will be controlling and how to enter will be circulated shortly.


25/6 - AGM.  The elected officers are now shown on the officers page.  The voting on motions was as follows

a) Ltd Co status.  The meeting decided not to proceed any further with converting to a company.

b) Voting rights.  The meeting decided not to confer voting rights to any body other than a county association.

c) County Match Rules.  The changes to rule 1 and rule 20 were passed.  The change to rule 3 (reduction in number of boards) was defeated.  The change to the U175 jamboree was defeated and it was left to the events director to decide the format of this years event (if any).

d) Correspondence Rules.  The changes proposed were agreed.

9/5 - Middle Game 27 and its results supplement have been added to the website.


9/5 - The AGM will be held at Erdington Conservative Club on Sunday June 24th @ 2.30pm. The deadline for motions is 28 days before the meeting.  Email motions to the CEO, Julie Johnson.


19/3 - Open and U150 results updated.


18/3 - National Stage County Draw Updated.


13/3 - The first 4NCL team rapidplay tournament is planned to take place on 30 June-1 July in Newport Pagnell.  It is open to all, not just existing 4NCL teams.  Click for details.


12/3 - Final open match played.  Greater Manchester are MCCU1 and Warwickshire are MCCU2.


20/2 - Roy Woodcock obituary added.


13/2 - U150 Results added.


10/2 - U125 Shrops -v- Warks and U100 SF Leics 'A' -v- Shrops both postponed due to inclement weather.


6/2 - First U100 semi final result added.


31/1 - Middle Game 26 and its results supplement have been added to the website.


30/1 - Open results added.  Staffordshire win Minor Counties and are M1 in the ECF National Stages.  Derbyshire are runners up and so are M2.


16/1 - Final U100 results added together with semi final line up.


16/1 - 3rd Round of U150 results added.


9/1 - U125 results added.

8/10 - Staffordshire have withdrawn their U125 side


The ECF have rejected the MCCU's application to become a Membership Organisation (MO) thus denying chess players within the MCCU the opportunity to join the ECF.  Click here to read the letter sent to the ECF in response to this action.


7/8 - MCCU stage county match fixture schedule published.


31/7 - Middle Game 23 added to newsletter page.


27/7 - Draft copy of ECF membership scheme added.


23/6 - Provisional 2006/7 county match dates added.


21/6 - New website introduced!  This is still work in progress.  If you see the [Under Construction] symbol on a page you know that it is still under construction!
