GM Mark Hebden is MCCU Champ

Results 2008-9

The MCCU Midland Individual Title ran in 2008/9 as a grand prix based on 6 weekend congresses. Each player's best three events (counting any five rounds) counted towards the Grand Prix. The MCCU player with the best three aggregate scores in any three of the six qualifying Opens secured the Midland Individual Title and gained the trophy for the year. The MCCU Individual Champion was GM Mark Hebden. Mark finished highest of MCCU players and had the £100 MCCU bursary.

The highest placed player not already qualified and wishing to take part in the 2009 British Championships received the MCCU nomination for a place. The nominated player was Don Mason.

The weekend congresses contributing to the MCCU Grand Prix and Championship were: Hereford - 23 to 25th August 2008; Leicester - 10th to 12th October 2008; Milton Keynes - 14th to 16th November 2008; Warwickshire - 14th to 15th February 2009; Bolton - 10th to 12th April 2009; Nottingham - 25th to 26th April 2009.
