Covid-19 checkmates national stages over-the board

 

6 Apr. 2020 Nominations for national stages. All over-the-board chess remains suspended, but had it been possible to resume play, the MCCU nominations were (in nomination order): Open Lincolnshire, Greater Manchester; Minor Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Worcestershire; Under-180 Shropshire; Under-160 Warwickshire, Greater Manchester; Under-140 Worcestershire, Nottinghamshire (TBC), Lincolnshire; Under-120 Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire; Under-100 Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Worcestershire.

15 Mar. In response to the Covid-19 epidemic the ECF recommended that all over-the-board chess should be suspended. Worcestershire u100 defaulted planned matches at the end of the MCCU season, but otherwise all fixtures were completed in the regional competitions.

1 Sep, Peter Sherlock reports. Six new teams. Greater Manchester have requested nomination for the open section of the national stage, but do not want to play in the Midland Team Championship. Shropshire return to the championship. Derbyshire enter the u160. In the u120, Lincs and Warks drop out, and Shrops re-join. In the u100, there are two new teams: Nottinghamshire Juniors and Worcestershire.
