Exciting match sees Notts through. Report by Neil Graham. Notts have met Hampshire in the national Final of the Under 140 twice in recent years. In 2014 Notts led 6-3 but lost 9-7 with a disastrous run of six losses in the last seven games declared. History looked like repeating itself; Notts took an early lead with a couple of quick draws then a succession of wins and by halfway through were 5½-2½ ahead. But back came Hampshire and after 13 declarations were 7-6 in the lead. Then the Hampshire captain blundered disastrously allowing Notts to level. The other boards looked promising and it was no surprise when the West of England player conceded in a totally lost endgame on board 8. Before Board 2 could be advised that a draw was sufficient, players agreed a draw to see Notts through.
