Leicestershire took an early 3-0 lead and with the next six results drawn Notts were seeking the near impossible task of winning boards 1-3 to halve the match. Notts held the advantage on board 1 but a slip enabled Leicestershire to convert to a full point. With the match lost, board 2, which had looked equal throughout, was agreed drawn with the final game in Notts' favour.
